Dimensional Clip Art for CNC Routing and EngravingVector Art 3D

Model Specifications

Each Vector Art 3D model is carefully constructed using state of the art software to ensure part quality. All our models have been transformed from artwork which is licensed to Vector Art 3D, Inc.

The models are all able to be scaled to any size using your chosen software solution. As a standard all the models are created within a 150mm x 150mm (approx. 6 x 6 inch) square or for the panels a 200mm x 300mm (approx. 8 x 12 inch) rectangle. All the parts are scaled to be between 6mm and 15mm (0.25 - 0.625 inch) deep. Your software should let you set the depth and the overall size. Your software will also let you edit the home position for the machining. As a standard the parts have been created with the centre of the model positioned at X0, Y0. The finish and smoothness has been designed to produce an optimized machined finish at this size with particular tooling. There is more information on machining Vector Art 3D models here: Machining Vector Art 3D models.

Each design is presented in 3 different styles. These are optimised for different applications. Style A is a raised part, Style B is the model inside of a dish shaped recess and Style C is also recessed with a faux hand carved edge.

Style A is designed to be added to your own design or to be machined and cut out as an individual component in its own right. Styles B and C are designed to allow you to machine them into a flat piece of material so they can be used to add decoration to an existing part. They minimize the amount of material that is removed to create a 3D carving. These styles can easily be cut into a finished product to add decoration.

For each of the different styles Vector Art 3D has three file formats. The V3M format is a proprietary format developed to allows easy and efficient machining of Vector Art 3D Models. The V3M files can be cut in Vector Art 3D Machinist - our FREE easy to use software solution for carving our models. For ArtCAM Pro users there is the Relief file format and for users of other CAD/CAM software we offer STL mesh files. The ArtCAM Pro Relief files have been created at a standard resolution. They are standard ArtCAM relief models and should be readable into any version of ArtCAM Pro. The STL models have been triangulated from the Relief models at a tolerance of 0.025mm (less than 0.001 Inch). This value is designed to ensure an optimum balance of file size while still retaining good detail and smoothness. Use the free download samples to test that our STL models can be machined with your chosen CAD/CAM software. We also offer files for the CarveWright and CompuCarve machines from LHR Technology, these are not available from our site but are sold through the Pattern Depot on the CarveWrigt website - http://patterns.carvewright.com.
